Sunflower - colored pencil

Facing West - Sunflower,  approx 6 x 8" colored pencil on black paper

Maybe, just maybe, spring is arriving here in the northern mid-west.  It has been along and chilly wait this year!   My students in school are now working on colored pencil paintings.
I did this one awhile ago - but thought I'd post again!

This is really nice Helen. Your flower has such an attitude. : )

What kind of black paper do you use and what brand of colored pencils? I haven't done much colored pencil but I can't imagine getting such clear, lively colors on black - especially the yellow.

Thank you so much Nancy!!
I've used a very smooth (almost no tooth) black ~ 110lb, I think. And the pencils are Prismacolor (regular, not Verithink). They have great vibrancy on the black paper... yellow CAN be difficult, though - so I put down a layer of white first, which blends nicely with the yellow.
