Red Velvet Cup Cake, 5x5" Oil on canvas
Well, it has been a long week. My daughter has been ill, but - I've also found myself unhappy with a lot of what I've been doing artistically this week. I imagine all artists go through this from time to time - I have before... It is part of the "work" of being an artist: looking for new perspectives, trying to express myself in new ways, etc. I'm posting this little painting - which is the result of a cupcake I found at a restaurant I visited last weekend. But, this seems like (although delicious looking) a painting that is quite traditional ~ and I have been feeling the need to stretch myself in new directions! Stay tuned ... I hope I'll have some new things to show you soon!

Love the colors & heavier brush strokes, children do keep us busy ,
I do like the way you handeled the paint.
looks tasty!
I love the shadow-y decadence of this painting. I think there's a lot of the non-traditional in your approach to capturing this cupcake. But I know the feeling you describe... all too well. ;) Hope your little one is feeling better soon!

Yum! I think I gained a pound or two just from looking!
An Old Irish Blessing for you,
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Helen sorry to hear about your daughter, hope she is better now. Mood, no mood, Helen this cup cake looks delicious. Anna :)
